Acronym Summary (INCITS and INCITS/V36)

Below, please find a summary of common acronyms.  Please send suggestions and comments to webmaster@incits-v36.org.
Alternate Representative: A participant who may act on behalf of a member if the principal member is not present.
D-Project: A domestic project that will result in a national standard (in contrast to an international standard).
I-Project: An International project that involves working with international standards committees and will result in an international standard (in contrast to a national standard).
INCITS: International Committee for Information Technology Standards
Principal Representative: A participant who acts on behalf of a member.
TAG: Technical Advisory Group.  A US national committee that formulates and represents US national positions.  Outside the US, the equivalent of a TAG is called (generically) a "national committee" or (in some national bodies) a "mirror committee".  Typically, an INCITS TC has one or more TAG responsibilities.
TC: Technical Committee. Technical committees (in contrast to the INCITS Executive Board) develop technical standards within INCITS.
TG: Technical Group. A subcommittee of a Technical Committee.
